As former classroom teachers, we know that the traditional approach to classroom management advantaged some while disadvantaging others. Students wired to please through compliance were rewarded, while students who required a less traditional approach were labeled troublemakers, timed out, and suspended.

As administrators in some of the most challenging educational settings, we have witnessed educators exhaust themselves using punishment tools in hopes of high academic achievement and unsustainable compliance. Our combined knowledge, based on degrees in Criminal Justice and Education, along with our lived experience, strike the balance of classroom management, responsible decision-making, and accountability.
